Bone and mineral metabolism in end-stage kidney disease

Various abnormalities of mineral metabolism develop in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), which are further modified by therapeutic modalities including renal replacement therapy. Although secondary hyperparathyroidism is the most popular abnormality, it has been well recognized that uremic patients show skeletal resistance to PTH at the same time.
